2019 Tesla Model 3

An early chapter in the UK Model 3 story

A 2019 Model 3 takes us back to an important moment in Tesla’s UK journey. Model 3 was beginning to bring Tesla ownership to a far wider audience — smaller than Model S, more attainable, still unmistakably Tesla.

Buying an early car gives us another point in that evolution to understand properly.

01  Before the update

What we checked on this Model 3

A pre-2021 car, so the checks lean on history and hardware generation.

  • Exact variant and build period
  • Battery warranty position against age and mileage
  • Wheel fitment, including whether aero covers are present
  • Paint condition, particularly the bonnet and front bumper
  • Interior wear and screen condition
  • Which software options are on the car, and whether they transfer
  • Service and repair documentation
  • Key cards and supplied charging equipment
02  Why it matters

Why this one is interesting

The context a generic valuation has no field for.

Early Model 3s sit before the 2021 update that brought the heat pump, powered boot and revised interior, and well before the Highland refresh. The used market treats those generations differently, which is covered in Tesla depreciation.

On a car of this age, history and documentation start carrying more weight than the headline mileage figure.

03  G’s take

From the founder

I love early Model 3s because you can see the point where Tesla started reaching a completely different scale.

Model S proved the concept. Model 3 brought Tesla to a much bigger audience.

Every time an early one comes through, I’m interested in where that particular car sits in the Model 3 journey.
