2020 Tesla Model 3

Model 3 becomes a major force

By 2020 the Model 3 was becoming a familiar sight on UK roads. Familiarity does not make every Model 3 identical, and that is where our interest starts.

We assessed this car as an individual vehicle rather than a row in a table.

01  Momentum

What we checked on this Model 3

A high-supply year, so condition and specification carry more of the valuation than usual.

  • Exact variant
  • Wheel condition, the most under-declared item on a Model 3
  • Tyre brand consistency and remaining tread
  • Paint condition and any previous repair
  • Interior wear, particularly on white interiors
  • Battery warranty position
  • Software options and whether they transfer
  • Charging equipment and key cards
02  Why it matters

Why this one is interesting

The context a generic valuation has no field for.

Volume cuts both ways for a seller. Supply is deep, so condition and specification do more of the work than they would on a rarer model — wheels especially, which is why we wrote wheels and resale value.

Two 2020 cars with the same mileage can sit a long way apart once variant, wheel condition and software are accounted for.

03  G’s take

From the founder

This is something I want customers to understand about WeBuyTeslas. I’m genuinely interested in the cars.

If somebody tells me they’ve got a 2020 Model 3, my next thought isn’t just “what’s the mileage?”

I want to know which one. Which variant? What specification? What wheels? What has happened to it during ownership?

Another Model 3 purchased

Familiar badge, individual car. The specification and condition decided the figure, as they usually do on this model.

Another Model 3 became part of the WeBuyTeslas story. If you own one, we would like to take a proper look at it — see selling your Model 3, or start with how a valuation is built.
